Ingredients
For Suva Masoor Dal
2 tbsp chopped dill leaves
1/2 cup masoor (split red lentil) dal
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
2 tsp oil
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
2 to 3 curry leaves (kadi patta)
2 tsp chopped garlic (lehsun)
1/2 tsp chopped green chillies
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
salt to taste
Method
- To make suva masoor dal, clean, wash and soak the masoor dal for about 15 minutes. Drain well and keep aside.
- Combine the masoor dal, turmeric powder and 1 cup of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
- Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Remove, whisk the dal well and keep aside.
- Heat the oil deep non-stick pan on a medium flame and when hot, add the cumin seeds.
- When the seeds crackle, add the curry leaves, garlic, green chillies and onions and sauté on a medium flame for 1 minute.
- Add the cooked dal, dill leaves, salt and 1½ cups of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
- Serve the suva masoor dal hot.

In a deep bowl add ½ cup masoor dal (split red lentil).

This zero oil recipe with a combo of masoor dal and dill leaves makes it so healthy and just perfect in taste. I make this for lunch along with a subzi and roti and it is so filling.
