Diabetes-friendly jamun blends with low-fat curds to make a delectable smoothie. Jambolene, the enzyme found in jamun, helps to utilize the glucose in the body thereby inhibiting the unwanted rise in the blood glucose levels.


Try to include as much jamun in your diet as possible, when in season, it's very good for you.


With black jamun You can also make Jamun Raita and Black Jamun Ice - Cream .

Jamun Smoothie recipe - How to make Jamun Smoothie

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     4Makes 4 small glasses

Ingredients
3/4 cup deseeded and finely chopped black jamun
2 cups low-fat curds (dahi)
1 tsp sugar substitute
4 tbsp crushed ice
Method
    Method
  1. Combine all the ingredients, except the ice, in a mixer and blend till smooth and frothy.
  2. Pour the smoothie into 4 individual small glasses and top with 1 tbsp of crushed ice in each glass.
  3. Serve immediately.

I tried this recipe when jamuns were in season this year and I just loved it. If you are not diabetic, do try this smoothie with a little sugar instead of sugar substitute...

Jamun and low fat curds blend together to make a quick and healthy smoothie. Tangy and refreshing. I used a bit of sugar instead of the sugar substitute. Easy to make.
