किशमिश में मौजूद फाइबर अपने रेचक प्रभाव के कारण कब्ज को दूर करने के लिए जाने जाते हैं। अन्य सूखे मेवों की तुलना में वे कैलोरी में कम होते हैं, इसलिए मीठे स्वाद को संतुष्ट करने के लिए उन्हें परिष्कृत चीनी के विकल्प के रूप में कम मात्रा में इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है। पर इसके अधिक सेवन से वजन बढ़ सकता है। पॉलीफेनोलिक यौगिकों की उपस्थिति हृदय स्वास्थ्य को बनाए रख सकती है, प्रतिरक्षा को बढ़ा सकती है और कैंसर की शुरुआत को रोक सकती है। ये फिनोल हानिकारक मुक्त कणों से लड़कर त्वचा में लोच और चमक भी जोड़ते हैं। उनकी उच्च पोटेशियम गिनती रक्तचाप को प्रबंधित करने और उच्च रक्तचाप के जोखिम को कम करने में मदद कर सकती है।
