Ingredients
Main Ingredients
1/2 cup chopped spinach (palak)
1/2 cup chopped fenugreek leaves (methi)
3/4 cup uncooked masoor (split red lentil) dal
2 tbsp ghee
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 1/2 tsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1 tsp grated ginger (adrak)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tsp dried mango powder (amchur)
1/2 cup chopped tomato
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp chilli powder
salt to taste
Method
- Wash the dal and soak in warm water in a deep bowl for 30 minutes. Drain.
- Combine the dal and 1½ cups of water in a microwave safe bowl, mix well and microwave on high for 10 minutes, while stirring twice in between after every 3 minutes.
- Add more ½ cup of water, mix well and cover it with a microwave safe lid and microwave on high for 3 minutes. Keep aside.
- In another microwave safe bowl, combine the ghee, onions, garlic, green chillies, ginger and cumin seeds, mix well and microwave on high for 1 minute.
- Add the cooked dal, and all the remaining ingredients, mix well and cover it with a microwave safe lid and microwave on high for 8 minutes, while stirring once in between.
- Serve hot.

Hariyali dal.. A perfect dal for a sunday lunch.. Quick to prepare.. and extremely flavourful.. the palak, methi giving a nice fragrance to the dal.. this dal goes well with steaming jeera rice.. This is a must try recipe.
