Biscotti is a special type of Italian almond biscuit that is baked twice to get a unique texture that is dry and crunchy.


The Italian Chocolate Almond Biscotti is an all-time favourite variant where the appeal of almonds is augmented by the charm of cocoa. The result is an appealing biscotti that anybody would love to sink their teeth into. Biscotti are best served with warm drinks, so they can be dipped and enjoyed, but can also be relished plain.


Coffees like Irish Coffee , Viennese Spiced Coffee , Chocolate and Cinnamon Coffee and Orange Coffee or teas like Orange Green Tea , Phudina Green Tea , Lemon Grass Tea , Black Tea, Basic Black Tea and Apple Tea make a good accompaniment to Chocolate Almond Biscotti.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Combine the plain flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, cinnamon powder, castor sugar and almonds in a deep bowl and mix well.
  2. Add the eggs and vanilla essence, mix well and knead into a soft and sticky dough without using any water.
  3. Grease your palms with little oil, place the dough on a greased baking tray and spread it with your fingers to form a 200 mm. × 75 mm. (8” x 3”) rectangle.
  4. Bake it in a pre-heated oven at 160°c (320°f) for 25 minutes. Keep aside to cool completely.
  5. Once cooled, cut diagonally into 15 thin pieces.
  6. Arrange them on a baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 160°c (320°f) for 27 minutes or till they are crisp, turning them once after 15 minutes.
  7. Serve or store it in an air-tight container.

Hi Alpa, Biscotti are generally made with eggs and there is no substitute for it. However in future when we do make an eggless one we will let you know
