makai ni khichdi is a very unique khichdi prepared with crushed sweet corn kernels, perked up with a tempering of seeds and green chillies. corn khichdi can be prepared easily and in a hassel-free way as it is cooked in microwave. This makai ni khichdi is unique as it doesn’t use any rice in the preparation.
A dash of asafoetida boosts the aroma of this easy-to-cook makai ni khichdi, while lemon juice adds a welcome tang to it.
Khichdi is a staple food in our country. Generally, it is made with a combination of rice and lentils. Ingredients
For Makai ni Khichdi
1 3/4 cups coarsely crushed sweet corn kernels (makai ke dane)
1 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
a pinch asafoetida (hing)
1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
salt to taste
For The Garnish
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
Method
- To make microwave makai khichdi, combine the oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida and green chillies in a microwave-safe bowl, mix well and microwave on high for 1 minute.
- Add the corn, sugar, salt and ¾ cup of water, mix well and microwave on high for 5 minutes.
- Add the lemon juice and mix well.
- Serve the makai ni khichdi hot garnished with the coriander.

Makai ni khichdi.. its quick and easy to make it.. The mild sweet taste of the khichdi is just perfect in taste.. I loved this khichdi.. whenever corn in season.. i make sure i make it..
