Ingredients
For Mini Mixed Moong Dal Chila
2 tbsp yellow moong dal (split yellow gram) , soaked for 1 hour and drained
2 tbsp green moong dal (split green gram) , soaked for 1 hour and drained
restricted quantity of salt
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
1 1/4 tsp oil for greasing and cooking
Method
- To make mini mixed moong dal chila, combine the yellow moong dal, green moong dal and approx. 3 tbsp of water in a mixer and blend till smooth.
- Transfer the mixture into a bowl, add the salt and asafoetida and mix well.
- Heat a mini uttapa pan and grease it using ¼ tsp of oil.
- Pour a spoonful of the batter in each uttapa mould to make a 75 mm. (3") diameter round.
- Cook all the chilas, using 1 tsp of oil, till they turn golden brown in colour from both the sides.
- Serve the mini mixed moong dal chila immediately.

To that add green moong dal.

Wash both the dals with clean water.

Strain the dals using a strainer.

Add more water for soaking the dals.

Cover with a lid and and allow them to soak for 1 hour.

After 1 hour, again strain the dals of mixed dal pancake for kids. Add this strained dals to a mixer jar.

Add 3 tbsp of water to it for blending.

Blend in a mixer to a smooth paste. This is how the mixture of mini mixed moong dal chila looks like after blending.

Transfer the mixture into a deep bowl.

Add salt as per taste to it.

2 tbsp jowar (white millet) flour
2 tbsp bajra (black millet) flour
4 tbsp finely chopped spinach (palak)

- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll out each portion into a 100 mm. (4") diameter circle using a little jowar flour for rolling.
- Heat a non-stick tava (griddle), and cook each roti on a medium flame, using ½ tsp of oil, till golden brown spots appear on both the sides.
- Serve the multigrain palak paneer roti lukewarm.

with use of just minimal ingredients, these chilas are too flavourful and healthy too. Do give it a try for eve snacks to get your share of protein and iron.. and do not forget to make some green chutney as an accompaniment to these chilas.
