Ingredients

For Green Moong Curry
1 cup moong (whole green gram) , soaked overnight and drained
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp ghee
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 cup finely chopped onions
1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1 tbsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp malvani masala
2 tsp coriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
1/4 tsp garam masala
salt to taste
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
Method

For green moong curry

    For green moong curry
  1. To make green moong curry recipe, combine soaked moong, ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, salt and 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker.
  2. Pressure cook it on a medium flame for 2 whistles. Allow the steam to escape and then open the lid. Keep aside.
  3. Heat oil and ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add cumin seeds, onions and sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Add green chillies, ginger garlic paste and mix well. Add the tomatoes and sauté for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the remaining turmeric powder, malvani masala, coriander cumin seeds powder and garam masala. Mix well.
  6. Add the cooked moong, salt to taste and 1/2 cup of hot water to adjust the consistency.
  7. Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 5 to 8 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  8. Serve green moong curry hot.
