Apple Sauce is a pretty handy ingredient, which lets you add a pleasantly fruity touch to any dish, especially desserts and steel-cut oats recipes.
It can be made easily and quickly and is pretty healthy as you do not need to sweeten it with sugar or any other sweetener. To get this natural sweetness, you need to use red apples. Green apples are sour and will not serve the purpose.
Once cooked, store the homemade apple sauce in an airtight container in the fridge, where it stays good for at least five days.
Use it as a topping on desserts , pancakes or steel-cut oats breakfast recipes.
Method- Combine the apples and ¾ cup of water in a deep non-stick pan, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 8 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
- Cool slightly and blend in a mixer till smooth.
- Serve or store in an air-tight container in the fridge. Use as required.
