Crackling Spinach recipe - How to make Crackling Spinach

Ingredients
4 cups finely shredded spinach (palak) , washed and drained (refer handy tip)
oil for deep-frying
1 tsp oil
4 tsp chopped garlic (lehsun)
4 tsp sesame seeds (til)
1 tbsp powdered sugar
salt to taste
Method
    Method
  1. Heat the oil for deep-frying in a deep non-stick pan and place some of the spinach in a strainer.
  2. Dip the strainer in the hot oil and deep-fry for approx. 2 to 3 minutes or till the spinach is crisp.
  3. Remove from the strainer and drain it on an absorbent paper.
  4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 to deep-fry the remaining spinach. Keep aside.
  5. Heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan and add the garlic and sesame seeds.
  6. When the seeds crackle, add the fried spinach, powdered sugar and salt and mix gently.
  7. Serve immediately.

  1. Shred the spinach, wash it thoroughly with water and drain well. Spread it on a muslin cloth and allow it to dry completely.

  1. what is crackling spinach made off?crispy fried spinach  is made from cheap and easily available ingredients in India which are | 4 cups finely shredded spinach (palak) , washed and drained (refer handy tip), oil for deep-frying, 1 tsp oil, 4 tsp chopped garlic (lehsun), 4 tsp sesame seeds (til), 1 tbsp powdered sugar and salt to taste.   1. For the crackling spinach, we will first clean the spinach.
  2. Wash the spinach leaves with water to get rid of any dirt. 
  3. Dry the washed spinach on kitchen towel or muslin cloth. The spinach must be DRY as we are going to deep fry it.
  4. Shred the spinach leaves with the help of a sharp knife. Keep aside.

  11. Add the fried spinach.
  12. Add 1 tbsp powdered sugar.
  13. Add salt to taste.
  14. Mix gently.
  15. Put in a serving bowl.
  16. Serve immediately.

Is it possible to replace deep frying by baking?

This starter was something different from the regular ones we have. Not many ingredients are also required in making this recipe. The sesame seeds and sugar are the key ingredients for making this recipe delicious and so it is very important to use them in proper proportions.The crunchy spinach gives a really nice mouthfeel.
