What is lemon orange ice cream made of?

  1. Lemon orange ice cream is made of 1/2 tsp lemon rind, 2 1/2 cups cold milk, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tbsp corn flour, 2 tbsp orange flavoured tang, 1/2 cup fresh cream, a few drops of orange food colour and 1/2 tsp orange rind.

How to make lemon rind

  1. Lemon rind is the peel or the skin of lemon fruit.
  2. To remove lemon rind, wash the fruit thoroughly.
  3. Now place the lemon unpeeled on the holes of the grater and gently start peeling the skin from top to bottom.
  4. It should consist of only the thin yellow skin and not the white portion. The white portion may taste bitter. In the similar way, you can also make orange rind.
  5. It has a nice fragrance and is used as ingredient in baked goods.

For the cornflour mixture of lemon orange ice cream

  1. For the cornflour mixture of lemon orange ice cream recipe | quick and easy orange lemon ice cream | homemade lemon and orange ice cream | Indian lemon and orange ice cream, add 1 tbsp corn flour in a bowl.
  2. Add 1/2 cups cold milk. Use full fat milk for perfect creamy taste and texture. We do not recommend the use of cow's milk.
  3. Mix well and keep aside. This adds thickness to the ice cream.

For the milk mixture of lemon orange ice cream

  1. For the milk mixture of lemon orange ice cream recipe | quick and easy orange lemon ice cream | homemade lemon and orange ice cream | Indian lemon and orange ice cream, heat the remaining 2 cups cold milk in a deep non-stick pan. This is also full fat milk or buffalo’s milk. This milk is high in fat and thus adds creaminess to the ice cream. We do not suggest the use of cow’s milk for this recipe.
  2. Add 1/2 cup sugar.
  3. Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 5 minutes, while stirring occasionally. The sugar will dissolve at this stage.
  4. Add the corn flour-milk mixture.
  5. Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 4 minutes, while stirring continuously. Stirring is important so the milk doesn’t stick to the pan and also to avoid the cornflour from making lumps. Keep aside to cool completely.
  6. Once cooled, add 2 tbsp orange flavoured tang. Tang is a sugary, orange-flavored drink available in a powder form.
  7. Add 1/2 cup fresh cream. This makes the lemon orange ice cream recipe | quick and easy orange lemon ice cream | homemade lemon and orange ice cream | Indian lemon and orange ice cream luscious.
