The amount of water while making rice in the cooker is very important, to make perfectly non-sticky and fluffy rice. If you enjoy softer mushy rice, increase the amount of water.

For making pulao or fried rice, spread this rice in a plate and allow it to cool completely. You can drizzle little oil while spreading so, the rice grains stay separate and don’t stick.

  1. To make basmati rice in a pressure cooker recipe, soak the rice in enough water for 30 minutes. Drain well.

  2. Combine the rice, salt and 1½ cups of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles.

I always believed that if we want each grain separate it can only be made on an open flame but when I came across this recipe and tried it, it was easier faster and just perfect...

Hi Benny, It generally depends upon your cooker. Would not take more than 12 minutes though.
