This classic combination of paneer and peas is loved by all. Instead of the regular peas-paneer gravy, make these super soft and succulent protein, fibre and calcium rich green peas, potato and paneer tikki for a change.
Kids can eat them easily and will love the crisp taste of these matar paneer cutlet when served hot with tomato ketchup or green chutney.
Tips to make green peas and paneer tikki: 1. Paneer is a good source of calcium and absorption of calcium is hindered with excess fat. So we are not deep frying the tikkis. 2. Coat tikkis with fibre rich oats. This is a good way to give tikkis to kids. 3. You can replace oats with bread crumbs if you wish. 4. Don't use malai paneer to make the tikki's as they will be very soft when cooked.

For green pea and paneer tikki- To make green pea and paneer tikki, combine all the ingredients together in a bowl and mix well.
- Divide the mixture into 14 equal portions and shape each portion into a 50 mm. (2 inches) round, flat tikki.
- Dip each tikki in cornflour-mixture and then roll them in the oats till they are evenly coated from both the sides.
- Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it lightly using 1 tsp oil.
- Cook each tikki on a medium flame, using little oil, till they turn golden brown in colour from both sides.
- Serve green pea and paneer tikki warm with tomato ketchup.

what is gren peas and paneer tikki made of? is made from 1/2 cup boiled green peas
1 cup grated paneer (cottage cheese), 1/2 cup boiled , peeled and mashed potatoes, 4 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania), 1 tsp finely chopped green chillies, 1 tsp ginger (adrak) paste, salt to taste, 1/4 cup cornflour mixture for coating, 1/2 cup quick cooking rolled oats for coating and 2 tsp oil for greasing and cooking. In a bowl put 1/2 cup boiled green peas.

Add 1 cup grated paneer (cottage cheese).

Add 1/2 cup boiled , peeled and mashed potatoes.

Add 4 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania).

Add 1 tsp finely chopped green chillies.

Add 1 tsp ginger (adrak) paste.

Add salt to taste. We added 1/2 tsp salt.

Combine all the ingredients to form a tikki mixture.

For cornflour mixture, in a small bowl, add 2 tbsp of corn flour.

Add 1/4 cup of water. Mix well to form a slurry consistency.

Shape each portion into a 37 mm. (1½ “) round, flat tikki by flattening them in between your palms.

Dip each tikki in cornflour mixture.

Then roll them in the oats till they are evenly coated from both the sides.

We have made 14 uncooked tikkis.

Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it with oil.

Place the 7 tikkis carefully on the tava. We will be cooking tikkis in 2 batches of 7 each.

Cook the bottom of the tikki for 30 to 45 seconds on medium flame.

Grease the top of the tikki with oil.

Flip over.

Cook the other side the same way till golden brown in colour. Remember to press down with a spatula while cooking to ensure uniform cooking.

Keep cooking and flipping till both sides are gold brown. Your tikki's are ready.
