Doodhi ka halwa is a north indian sweet dish prepared from grated doodhi(also known as bottle gourd or lauki). The dudhi is cooked with sugar, ghee and spices like cardamom to create a tasty doodhi halwa. A delicious dessert dish which can be served as a snack or after meal sweet!

    Method
  1. Put the milk and bottle gourd in a deep pan and bring to boil, while, stirring occasionally.
  2. When the mixture starts thickening, add the sugar, mix well and cook till the mixture becomes thick.
  3. Add the ghee, cardamom, saffron and colour, mix well and cook on a slow flame till the ghee leaves the sides.
  4. Serve hot garnished with nuts.
