Ingredients
For Anjeer Halwa
1 1/4 cups dried figs (anjeer)
3 tbsp ghee
1/2 cup blanched , peeled and coarsely powdered almonds (badam)
4 tbsp sugar
5 tbsp milk powder
1/4 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
For The Garnish
1 tbsp almond (badam) slivers
Method
For anjeer halwa
- To make anjeer halwa, boil enough water in a saucepan, add the figs, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes or till they turn soft, while stirring occasionally.
- Drain it using a strainer.
- Blend in a mixer to a smooth paste using approx. ¼ cup of water. Keep the fis purée aside.
- Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick kadhai, add the powdered almonds, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring continuously.
- Add the puréed figs, milk powder, sugar and ½ cup of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 5 minutes, while stirring continuously.
- Add the cardamom powder and mix well.
- Serve the anjeer halwa hot garnished with almond slivers.

Heat enough water in a deep non-stick pan.

Add 1 cup almonds (badam) . For making this recipe you only need to blanch one cup to get half cup blanched and coarsely crushed almonds.

Boil on a high flame for 3 to 4 minutes.

Switch off the flame, keep it aside for 5 minutes.

Drain the almonds.

Peel the skin of almonds.

Place the peeled almonds on a muslin cloth.

Dry them completely.

Transfer the almonds in a mixer.

Blend in a small mixer jar till coarse in 2 batches. Keep aside.

Heat enough water in a deep non-stick pan.

Add 1 1/4 cup dry figs.

Cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes or till they turn soft, while stirring occasionally.

Drain it using a strainer.

Transfer them into a mixer.

Add 1/4 cup water.

Blend into a smooth paste.

In a deep pan, heat 3 tbsp of ghee.

Add 1/2 cup blanched , peeled and coarsely powdered almonds.

Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring continuously.

Add the puréed figs.

Add 5 tbsp of milk powder.

Add 4 tbsp sugar.

Add 1/2 cup water.

Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 5 minutes, while stirring continuously.

Add 1/4 tsp cardamom powder.

Mix well.

Serve anjeer halwa hot.

Anjeer is my favourite and i just loved this recipe to the core.. I made this recipe for the dinner at my place, and you wont believe, my few friends who dosen''t like anjeer also loved this recipe. The sugar is just perfect and the milk powder gives a slight creaminess which make it even more tasty..
