Here we give a minty twist to the classic Punjabi lassi. Cool and creamy, this refreshing Indian yogurt mint drink gets even more zesty with the addition of mint. The combination of mint and black salt not only gives the drink a unique taste, but also boosts it health benefits – by improving digestion and inducing a cooling effect.
Think mint, and cool is the first word that comes to mind! Indeed, mint is best known for its cooling effect, and is an ideal ingredient to include in summer drinks. This mint sweet lassi with hints of cumin seeds is pleasing to the eye and taste buds both.
Choosing the perfect mint leaves is very important for this mint lassi. Look for mint leaves that have firm, unwilted leaves, are vividly deep green in color with no signs of yellowing or browning. Leaves that are smaller in size will be more tender and have a milder flavour.
Tips for pudina lassi. 1. Ensure to use thick curds, else the lassi will be too runny. Prefer curd made with buffalo milk over cow’s milk. 2. To make a salty version of pudina lassi, just omit the sugar and add salt to taste instead.
Try other drinks using curd like Black Grapes and Curd Smoothie, Ayran, Turkish Yoghurt Drink or Piyush.

-
-
For the pudina lassi, add the mint leaves to a small blender jar. These mint leaves are cleaned, washed and roughly chopped so that they are easily blended.
-
To this, add the black salt. This will give an unusual, pleasant taste to the Pudina Lassi.
-
Now add the sugar to the blender. This quantity of sugar is perfect for a sweet lassi but if you like your lassi very sweet, you can add more sugar. You can also try other sweet lassis like Mango lassi and Kesar Pista Lassi
-
Finally add the jeera powder. Even though it seems like we're adding savory elements to a sweet lassi but that is what makes this sweet mint lassi unique from other recipes.
-
Shut the lid of the blender and blend this into a semi-smooth paste. This will be a thick paste as it has sugar. Keep aside.
-
Take thick curd in a deep bowl. If the curd is not thick, the lassi will be very watery. Use chilled curd for a cold lassi or if you are using room temperature cur then refrigerate till serving.
-
Whisk the curd till it is smooth.
-
Now add the prepared paste to this. It will not only give a pleasant green flavor but also give a great minty sweet flavor.
-
Whisk again till the paste is properly incorporated into the curd.
-
To give an authentic feel, pour the lassi in clay glasses.
-
Garnish with a few springs of mint.
-
Serve with an authentic Punjabi meal with Pindi Chole and Bhature.
-
For the pudina lassi, add the mint leaves to a small blender jar. These mint leaves are cleaned, washed and roughly chopped so that they are easily blended.
