    1. what is moong dal spinach soup made of? dal palak soup is made from 4 tbsp yellow moong dal (split yellow gram) , soaked for 10 minutes and drained, 1/2 cup finely chopped spinach (palak), 1 tsp cornflour, 1/4 cup low-fat milk , 99.7% fat-free and salt to taste.     1. We have soaked 4 tbsp yellow moong dal (split yellow gram) for 10 minutes.
    2. Drain.
    3. Soaked and drained yellow moong dal.

    1. In a bowl put  1/4 cup low-fat milk , 99.7% fat-free.
    2. Add 1 tsp cornflour.
    3. Mix well and keep aside.

    1. To make moong dal spinach soup recipe | dal palak soup | zero oil moong dal soup | spinach and lentil soup |  in a pressure cooker put 4 tbsp yellow moong dal (split yellow gram) , soaked for 10 minutes and drained.
    2. Add 2 cups of hot water.
    3. Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
    4. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
    5. Mix the dal very well with help of a whisk.
    6. Add 1/2 cup finely chopped spinach (palak). Note the spinach must be finely chopped or you will get big pieces of palak in your mouth.
    7. Add cornflour-milk mixture.
    8. Add salt to taste. We added 1/4 tsp salt.
    9. Add freshly ground pepper. We added 1/8th tsp pepper.
    10. Mix well.
    11. Cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes, while stirring continuously.
    12. Serve moong dal spinach soup | dal palak soup | zero oil moong dal soup | spinach and lentil soup |  hot.
tips for moong dal spinach soup

 

    1. Note the spinach must be finely chopped or you will get big pieces of palak in your mouth.
    2. The zero oil moong dal soup will thicken slightly as it cools down, you can add milk to adjust the consistency.
    3. Add a few croutons before serving, it tastes great.
    4. You can make the cornflour slurry in water instead of milk.

Is there a substitute for Corn flour? Am allergic to corn, wheat, Oats and soy. Can Rice flour or Roasted Bengal gram Dal flour( putana) be used instead?
