Stuffed Spinach Paratha: A Vibrant and Healthy Tiffin Treat
The Stuffed Spinach Paratha is a delightful and nutritious variation of the classic paratha, also known as Stuffed Palak Paratha. This recipe is an ideal tiffin box spinach paratha for both kids and adults, as the parathas stay nice and fresh for several hours. This particular version is a healthy carrot spinach paneer paratha that combines simple, everyday ingredients like paneer, carrots, ginger-green chilli paste, and coriander for the stuffing, while the dough uses whole wheat flour and spinach puree for a beautiful green hue.
Preparing the Green-Tinged Dough
The base of this paratha is a vibrant green dough achieved with fresh spinach. Combine the whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta), spinach (palak) puree, oil, and salt to taste in a deep bowl. Mix all the ingredients well, then add enough water and knead into a semi-stiff dough. The spinach puree is key, as its softness helps ensure the finished parathas stay fresh in the tiffin box. Once kneaded, keep the dough aside while you prepare the filling.
Crafting the Succulent Paneer-Carrot Filling
The stuffing is what makes this paratha truly exciting. In a bowl, combine the grated paneer (cottage cheese)—which provides a succulent texture—and the grated carrot, adding a touch of natural sweetness and health. Flavor this mixture with ginger-green chilli paste for a subtle heat, finely chopped coriander (dhania) for freshness, and salt to taste. Mix all these ingredients well. The soft paneer based filling is one your kids will love in every bite. Once mixed, divide the stuffing into 4 equal portions and set them aside.
Stuffing and Sealing the Paratha
To make the stuffed spinach paratha, take one portion of the dough and roll it into a 100 mm. (4”) diameter circle, using a little whole wheat flour for rolling. Place one portion of the prepared stuffing in the centre of the circle. Now, gather the edges: bring together all the sides in the centre and seal tightly. This sealing step is crucial to prevent the filling from escaping during the final rolling and cooking process.
Rolling and Cooking to Golden Perfection
Once sealed, gently roll the stuffed dough circle again into a slightly larger 125 mm. (5”) diameter paratha, using a little more flour if needed. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle). Place the paratha on the tava and cook it, using a little oil, until golden brown spots appear on both the sides. Repeat this entire process—from rolling the dough to cooking—to make 3 more parathas with the remaining dough and stuffing.
Packing and Serving Instructions
The stuffed spinach paratha is now ready! While you can serve it immediately for a quick meal, it is especially great for meal prep. To pack the stuffed spinach paratha for a tiffin box, wrap the paratha in an aluminum foil or cling film to retain its freshness and heat, then pack it in the tiffin box. This recipe provides a delicious and wholesome way to ensure your family gets their dose of greens and protein, even on the go.
Notes on stuffed spinach paratha. 1. Multigrain flour can also be used to make the parathas healthier. 2. Roll lightly so that the stuffing does not come out. 3. Press with the spatula especially the edges to make sure the paratha is golden-brown and cooked evenly on both sides.
See why this is a healthy carrot spinach paneer paratha ? Carrot, spinach and paneer are 3 beta-carotene (vitamin A) rich sources which are combined in these healthy parathas. Here paneer also adds enough protein (6.6 g per paratha). Vitamin A is a key nutrient which combines with protein to aid in clear vision.

My son is 2 years old and finding difficult for me to feed him everyday as mostly we prefer to cook idly in our home. Once in a week we prefer to prepare chapati. He was talking but when we consulted the doctor he was asking us to introduce new foods and not to repeat the same. We won't give him noodles as he it is not nutritious but when he saw that he will come and ask. I was searching for different varieties of food that I could give .Also he should be able to chew it. When I checked the taradalal recipes for kids I was so attracted to it . Especially the "stuffed spinach paratha" seems to be healthy and tastier. This solves my problem for one day and my son will be having a new taste. Also I tried cooking he liked it as spinach and paneer we are adding him for the first time. My husband mostly don't like chappati he also taken the parathas and appreciated me. Thanks for taradalal for this recipe.

Healthy stuffed spinach parathas. The paneer and the carrot keeps the paratha moist. I prepared this for my kids, was scared about its freshness, But it stayed fresh for 5 hours in the tiffin, and my kids enjoyed it with ketchup.
