Ingredients
For Potato Rotis
1 cup boiled peeled and grated potatoes
1/2 cup plain flour (maida)
1/4 cup finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
2 tbsp melted ghee
salt to taste
plain flour (maida) for rolling
oil for cooking

- potato rotis |Indian potato roti | aloo roti | potato roti made with plain flours is the recipe given below. Roti is a popular Indian flatbread eaten with subzi, curries and gravies for lunch or dinner. While mostly it is made with whole wheat flour and salt, you can use a number of flour and spices to make variation. Also, you can add in some chopped vegetables to give it a nice mouthfeel and flavour. The addition of paneer or oats also helps in making it more wholesome. Here are some popular roti recipes from our website which I personally like :

To make potato rotis | potato roti made with plain flours, first grate the potatoes with the thick side of a grater we have taken approx 3 medium sized potatoes.

In a deep bowl, add refined flour.

Add grated potatoes.

Add ¼ cup finely chopped coriander.

For a little spice, add 1 tsp of finely chopped green chillies.

Add melted ghee.

Add salt to taste.

Combine all the ingredients and mix well. Use approx 2-3 tbsp water and knead into a soft dough.

To make potato rotis | potato roti made with plain flours, first grate the potatoes with the thick side of a grater we have taken approx 3 medium sized potatoes.

To make the Potato Roti, divide the dough into 6 equal portions.

Put a little flour on the rolling board.

Place a portion of dough ball on rolling board and press it.

Roll out a portion of the dough into a 150 mm. (6”) diameter circle with the help of a little plain flour. Roll the roti gently as the dough is very soft.

Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and carefully place the Potato Roti over it. Cook the roti till it is golden brown from the bottom.

Apply 1/2 tsp of oil, flip and cook the other side.

Apply 1/2 tsp oil on the other side and cook till the potato roti has golden brown spots on both the sides.

Remove the Potato Roti on a plate.

Serve the Potato Roti immediately with curds and pickle of your choice

Potato Roti With Whole Wheat Flour
1 1/2 cups boiled , peeled and mashed potatoes
2 cups whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1 tbsp finely chopped green chillies
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste
whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta) for rolling
oil for cooking
For potato roti with whole wheat flour
- To make potato roti with whole wheat flour, combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl and knead into a soft dough without using any water.
- Divide the dough into 15 equal portions.
- Roll a portion of the dough into a 150 mm. (6”) diameter thin circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.
- Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and cook the roti, using a little oil, till golden brown spots appear on both the sides.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 to make 14 more rotis.
- Serve the potato roti with whole wheat flour immediately with fresh curds and green chutney.

Hi Rajesh, Yes this recipe will make 6 rotis, as there is 1/2 cup flour but it also has 1 cup potatoes.

A good alternative to stuffed aloo parathas for a quick breakfast or a one-dish meal. The parathas were soft, next time will have them with some dal.
