Ingredients

For The Potato and Green Pea Patties
2 cups boiled , peeled and mashed potatoes
1 cup boiled and mashed green peas
2 tbsp cornflour
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp sugar
1 tbsp fresh cream
salt to taste
oil for greasing and cooking

To Be Ground Into A Smooth Paste (using A Little Water)
1/4 cup chopped coriander (dhania)
3 green chillies , roughly chopped
1 tbsp grated fresh coconut
1/2 tsp sugar
salt to taste

For The Tomato Sauce
1 cup roughly chopped tomatoes
1/4 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tbsp fresh cream
1 tbsp tomato ketchup
salt to taste

For The Topping
1/4 cup grated processed cheese
Method

  1. Combine all the ingredients including the prepared paste in a deep bowl and mix well.
  2. Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions and roll each portion into a round ball and flatten them between your palms.
  3. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it with oil, place the patties on it and cook using some more oil till they turn golden brown in colour from both the sides.

  1. Heat a non-stick pan, add the tomatoes and cover and cook on a medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes or till the tomatoes are soft.
  2. Allow to cool completely and blend in a mixer to a smooth purée.
  3. Transfer the puree into a non-stick pan, add all the remaining ingredients, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally. Keep aside.

How to proceed

  1. Place the patties on a serving dish and pour the hot tomato sauce over them. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top and serve immediately. .

Potato Peas Patties made with green peas and coriander paste gives it a nice flavour as well as a lovely green colour. When served, topped with fresh tomato sauce and grated cheese,it makes an exotic starter and a healthy and filling treat for kids.
