What is chocolate sheera made of?

 

    1. Chocolate sheera is made of 1/4 cup chopped dark chocolate, 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 tbsp ghee, 1/2 cup semolina (rava / sooji) and 2 tbsp chopped almonds (badam).
How to select chocolate

 

    1. Most supermarkets and specialty stores sell dark chocolate these days. It is also available in cafes and cake shops. Buy from a trusted store to ensure maximum freshness.

    5. Switch off the flame, add 1/4 cup chopped dark chocolate.
    6. Mix well. Keep aside.
How to select semolina, sooji, rava

 

    1. Semolina is milled to various degrees of coarseness, and fine, medium and large grained varieties are readily available in grocery stores. Buy as per your needs. 
    2. The grains should be clean, dust free and uniform in size.
    3. It should be without any infestations or foul odour.
    4. There should be no presence of moisture.
       
How to roast semolina, rava

 

    1. To roast semolina, heat 1 tbsp ghee in a broad non-stick pan.
    2. Add 1/2 cup semolina (rava / sooji).
    3. Mix well and roast on a medium flame for 3 minutes. It will slightly change the colour to dark. This is to remove the raw smell of the semolina.

Can I use water instead of milk?

Yes you can make this sheera with water. However using milk will give it a creamier texture and a richer taste.
