Ingredients

1/2 cup grated processed cheese
4 medium sized garlic (lehsun) cloves
3 tbsp soft butter
2 burger buns
Method

  1. To make the cheese garlic buns, first grate the cheese with a grater and keep aside.
  2. Slice each bun horizontally into 2 halves and keep aside.
  3. Crush the garlic cloves using a mortar pestle.
  4. Combine the butter, crushed garlic and cheese in a bowl and mix well.
  5. Spread equal portion of the mixture evenly on each bun halve using a butter knife.
  6. Place all the 4 buns on a baking tray and bake it in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 12 minutes.
  7. Remove from the cheese garlic buns from the oven and serve immediately.

Directions to make cheese garlic buns at home

  1. Grate the cheese with a grater and keep aside. You can even use mozzarella cheese to get that stringy mouthfeel or cheddar cheese.
  2. Slice each bun horizontally into 2 halves and keep aside. This recipe can be made using any bread buns ie. Whole wheat, multigrain.
  3. Crush the garlic cloves using a mortar pestle. The aroma and flavour of freshly pounded garlic is different than the frozen or store-bought one.
  4. In a small bowl, take the grated cheese.
  5. Now add the freshly crushed garlic to it. You can also use grated garlic.
  6. Add the butter and mix well.The butter should be soft at room temperature.
  7. Spread an equal portion of the mixture evenly on each bun halve using a butter knife.
  8. Place all the 4 buns on a baking tray and bake it in a pre-heated oven at 180°C (360°F) for 12 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and serve immediately. Cheese garlic bread tastes amazing as it is but, you can sprinkle mixed dried herbs to perk up the taste. You can serve this with Soup and Italian main course dishes like pasta or pizza.

Cheese garlic buns.. These buns are irresistible.. The cheese, garlic butter wow.. what a combination.. The strong garlicky taste when baked.. gives a nice moist taste to the buns.. I served this with tangy tomato soup..
