Wash the bitter gourd using water. Select karela that are bigger and pale green in colour, and avoid those that are riper, with a slightly orange or red hue.

Cut the karela crosswise and lengthwise. You will now have four pieces of bitter gourd.

Scoop out the seeds from each piece using a spoon and discard them.

Place the clean outer green flesh of karela flat-side down on the cutting board. Chop them roughly and keep aside.

Transfer the deseeded and roughly chopped bitter gourd to a mixer jar. If you have a juicer, you may use this instead of the mixer jar. Simply, add water, lemon juice, salt at the end and skip the step of straining the mixture.

Add ½ cup of water in the mixer. Water can be increased if you want a more diluted karela juice. Also, you can replace water with any juice you like.

Blend the karela till smooth.
