Ingredients

2 cups long grained rice (basmati)
1 onion
6 to 7 green chillies
1 tsp ginger (adrak) paste
1 tsp garlic (lehsun) paste
3/4 cup vegetables (green peas, carrots, broccoli, beans etc)
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
3/4 tsp garam masala
Method


  1. Wash the basmati rice and soak it in water.
  2. Heat oil.
  3. Add the jeera and the green chillies.
  4. Add the onions and fry them for a while. add the ginger/garlic paste and let this fry for about 3-4 mins.
  5. Add the vegetables and let this fry for about a minute.
  6. Add the rice, salt and the garam masala and mix this till the masala coats the rice.
  7. Add 3 cups of hot water and cover the pan. let this boil till almost all water has evaporated.
  8. After this keep the pan covered and let the steam escape for about 3 mins.
  9. Remove from heat and garnish with coriander.
