1/2 cup roughly chopped carrot
1 tbsp yellow moong dal (split yellow gram) , washed and drained
a pinch of freshly ground black pepper (kalimirch) , optional

  1. To make carrot and moong dal soup for babies and toddlers, combine the carrot, yellow moong dal and 1 cup of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  2. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool completely, once cooled blend in a mixer till smooth.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a broad non-stick pan and add pepper powder. Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve the carrot and moong dal soup for babies and toddlers lukewarm.

  2. Wash the carrot very well with clean water to make it free of dirt if any. Wash it under running water to prevent any sort of contamination.  
  3. Wipe it with a clean kitchen towel. 
  4. Peel the carrot with a sterilized peeler. Peel it very well so that no fibrous part remain as these are not easily digestible by babies at 9 to 10 months.
