Bhajiya recipe variations

  1. Bhajiya or pakoras are a perfect deep-fried snack to relish in the evening or during a monsoon day. They are quick and easy to make in fact, you can prepare an assortment of bhajiyas with just a handful of ingredients that are easily available in your home kitchens. Below are some of my favorite bhajia recipes :

How to make bread bhajiya

  1. For preparing the batter for bread bhajiya, place bread slices on a clean & dry chopping board. We are making use of white bread. You can also use brown, whole wheat or multigrain bread.
  2. Remove the crust from the bread slice. Though this is optional, it will help in making crunchy on the outside & soft on the inside bread bhajias.
  3. Tear the bread into very small pieces and add into a deep bowl.
  4. Add ½ cup fresh thick curd. We have made use of homemade dahi made using this detailed recipe of homemade curd made using cow’s milk.
  5. Add the besan. Besan will help in binding together all the ingredients.
  6. Add the green chilli paste. The quantity can be changed as per your liking.
  7. Add the coriander. Dhania can be substituted with spinach or fenugreek leaves.
  8. Add the chilli powder.
  9. Add the asafoetida. This aids in digestion.
  10. Add finely chopped onions and salt to taste. You can even add finely chopped caspicum, tomatoes, potatoes, corn or bell peppers to the bread bhajiya batter.
  11. Also, add around ¼ cup of water.
  12. Mix very well till smooth and our bread bhajiya batter is now ready.

For frying the bread pakora

  1. For deep-frying the bread bhajias, heat the oil in a deep non-stick kadhai.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture in hot oil using your fingers. Be careful as the oil might splutter while doing this. Deep-fry a few bread bhajiya at a time on a medium flame. Flip and fry till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides.
  3. Drain the bread bhajiyas on an absorbent paper.
  4. Serve the bread bhajia immediately with tomato ketchup. Bread Bhajiyas is a perfect recipe for using your leftover bread. Apart from this, you can also check out other recipes made using leftover bread like: Bread Fritters, Bread Upma and Chatpata Dahiwala Bread.

something simple and easy and best to have hot hot during monsoons! Just that bread absorbs too much oil but once in a while it is fine. Give it a try.
