Ingredients


For Whole Wheat Naan
2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
3/4 cup curd (dahi)
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
salt to taste
1 tsp oil

For The Topping
10 tsp black sesame seeds (kala til)
10 tsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
10 tsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
10 tsp butter

Method

For whole wheat naan

  1. To make {span class="bold1"}whole wheat naan{/span}, combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl, mix well and knead into a semi-soft dough, using enough warm water.
  2. Put the oil on top, cover with a damp muslin cloth and keep aside for 1 hour.
  3. Press the dough lightly to remove the air. Divide the dough into 10 equal portions.
  4. Roll out each portion of the dough into an oblong of 175 mm. (7") using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.
  5. Sprinkle 1 tsp black sesame seeds evenly over it.
  6. Sprinkle 1 tsp finely chopped coriander evenly over it.
  7. Sprinkle 1 tsp of finely chopped garlic evenly over it.
  8. Roll it once more using a rolling pin.
  9. Apply little water on the other side of the naan.
  10. Heat an iron tava (griddle) , place the sesame seeds- coriander side facing upwards.
  11. Cook on a medium flame till you see bubbles on the naan. Flip the tava on an open flame and cook again while rotating the tava.
  12. Remove from the flame, apply butter.
  13. Repeat steps 4 to 11 to make 9 more whole wheat naans.
  14. Serve immediately with subzi of your choice.
