  1. To make mixed vegetable soup for babies and toddlers, combine the cauliflower, bottle gourd, carrot and tomatoes with 1 cup of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  2. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  3. Cool slightly and blend in a mixer till smooth.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a deep non-stick pan and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute.
  5. Serve the mixed vegetable soup for babies and toddlers lukewarm.

    5. No salt has been added to this soup as most pediatricians don’t recommend it now-a-days. For toddlers (1 year and above) restricted quantity of salt can be added as per your pediatricians advice. 
    6. Begin with a small quantity of the soup and gradually increase the quantity that suits your baby. 
    7. Any new food is best introduced in the morning hours as the baby is fresh and digestion will also get completed before during the day. 
For Mixed Vegetable Soup for Babies and Toddler

 

    1. For Mixed Vegetable Soup for Babies and Toddler first you need to prepare the cauliflower. Choose cauliflower that has light cream coloured, tight and compactly arranged florets, with no dark spots and with firm straight leaves.  
    2. Separate the cauliflower florets. We don’t need cauliflower greens in this Mixed Vegetable Soup for Babies and Toddler. 
    3. Wash the cauliflower florets very well with clean water to make it free of dirt if any. Wash it under running water to prevent any sort of contamination.    
    4. Wipe them with a clean kitchen towel and pat dry them.  
    5. Using the sterilized knife chop the cauliflower. Keep the chopped cauliflower aside. 
    6. For Mixed Vegetable Soup for Babies and Toddler next you need prepare the bottle gourd. Ensure that the bottle gourd has a smooth skin, is pale green in colour and free from any cuts, spots and blemishes. It should be firm to handle and the flesh should not feel soft when pressed.
    7. Wash the bottle gourd very well with clean water to make it free of dirt if any. Wash it under running water to prevent any sort of contamination.
    8. Wipe it with a clean kitchen towel and pat dry them.  
    9. Trim both the edges of the bottle gourd. 
    10. Cut the bottle gourd horizontally into 2 parts using a sterilized knife. 
    11. Peel the bottle gourd with a sterilized peeler and discard the peels. Peel it very well so that no green part remain as these are not easily digestible by babies at  8 to 9 months.  
    12. Using the sterilized knife chop the bottle gourd into medium sized pieces. Keep the chopped bottle gourd aside.  
    13. Then the next step to make Mixed Vegetable Soup for Babies and Toddler is to buy the perfect carrot. Carrot should be firm, smooth, relatively straight and bright in color. Avoid carrots that are excessively cracked or bruised.  
    14. Wash the carrot very well with clean water to make it free of dirt if any. Wash it under running water to prevent any sort of contamination.  
    15. Wipe it with a clean kitchen towel. 
    16. Peel the carrot with a sterilized peeler. Peel it very well so that no fibrous part remain as these are not easily digestible by babies at 7 to 8 months.  
    17. Using the sterilized knife chop the carrots. Chop the carrots into medium sized pieces and keep aside. 
    18. Finally to make Mixed Vegetable Soup for Babies and Toddler select good quality tomatoes. Look for tomatoes that are round, full, smooth skinned with no wrinkles, cracks, bruises or soft spots.
    19. Wash the tomato very well with clean water to make it free of dirt if any. Wash it under running water to prevent any sort of contamination.  
    20. Wipe it with a clean kitchen towel. 
    21. Scoop out and discard the eyes of the tomatoes using the tip of the sharp sterilized knife.
    22. Cut the tomato into 4 parts vertically using the knife. 
    23. Remove the center white portion and the seeds of the tomatoes using the same knife and discard them. 
    24. Using the sterilized knife chop the tomatoes into medium sized pieces and keep aside.
    25. Now begin cooking Mixed Vegetable Soup for Babies and Toddler. Take a clean pressure cooker and add chopped cauliflower into it. Cauliflower is a rich source of vitamin C. 
    26. Add the chopped bottle gourd. This vegetable gives considerable amounts of water. 
    27. Then add chopped carrot. They provide good amounts of vitamin A. 
    28. Finally add the last vegetable – chopped tomatoes. We have used 4 different vegetables in this soup. You can make a Mixed Vegetable Soup of Infants using any vegetable which is handy. 
    29. Add 1 cup of water. 
    30. Mix well using a ladle. 
    31. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. 
    32. This is how the cooked mixture of Mixed Vegetable Soup for Infants and Toddlers will look like. Cool the mixture slightly. 
    33. Transfer the mixture into the jar of a mixer. 
    34. Blend till really smooth. Ensure that no vegetable pieces remain after blending, as that can lead to choking in babies.
