The Kand Sandwich gets its tongue-tickling flavour not just from green chutney but also from the rock salt and pepper that are mixed with the yam slices before making the sandwich. This interesting snack can be had on fasting days too.

Ingredients
Main Ingredients
24 steamed purple yam (kand) cubes , cut into 50 mm. x 50 mm. (2? x 2?) pieces
rock salt (sendha namak) and to taste
oil for cooking
Method
- Combine the purple yam, rock salt and pepper powder in a deep bowl and mix well.
- Apply 1 tsp of green chutney evenly on each of the 12 purple yam pieces and sandwich it with the remaining 12 pieces to form a kand sandwich.
- Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) grease it lightly with oil and cook the kand sandwich, using a little oil, till they are golden brown in colour from both the sides.
- Serve immediately.
