Ingredients

For Jeera Aloo
2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
2 3/4 cups potato cubes
3 tbsp oil
2 tsp green chilli paste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi) , optional
1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
salt to taste
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)

  1. To make jeera aloo, heat the oil in a non-stick kadhai and add the cumin seeds.
  2. When the seeds crackle, add the potatoes, mix well, cover with a lid and cook on a medium flame for 10 to 12 minutes or till the potatoes are cooked, while stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the green chilli paste, turmeric powder, lemon juice, salt and coriander, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  4. Serve jeera aloo hot.

How to make Jeera Aloo

  1. To prepare Punjabi aloo jeera recipe, scrub and wash the potatoes. Peel the skin and discard it. Keep it intact if you prefer eating potatoes with the peel. Jeera Aloo is my favourite dry subzi. I have made it many times and every time i make my family relish it. The green chilli paste, coriander and lemon juice adds a perfect taste to this subzi. Jeera has a strong and amazing taste as well as aroma in this dry subzi..
