atte ka sheera is a popular Gujarati sweet made from simple ingredients which are easily available in the Indian kitchen. In fact all you need is whole wheat flour, ghee, sugar, cardamom and almonds to make the atta ka sheera. I consider whole wheat sheera one of the easiest sweets to make. We have made it even easier by making it in a microwave, the cooking time is cut short to 5 minutes.

For atta ka sheera
 

  1. To make atta ka sheera, in a glass bowl, combine the wheat flor and ghee and mix well. Microwave on high for 3 minutes,while stirring every 1 minute.
  2. Add the sugar, cardamom powder and 3/4 cup of water and microwave on high for 2 minutes until the sugar has dissolved. Mix well.
  3. Serve atta ka sheera hot garnished with almond slivers.

Hello Mam, how will the nutrient value change if I use equal quantity of jaggery instead of sugar? Is jaggery a healthier option?

When compared to sugar, which provides only empty calories, jaggery is considered to be a superior natural sweetener. Sugar is definitely one of the causes of many chronic diseases, but jaggery too needs to be consumed in moderate amounts. What you would consume is just about a tbsp (18 g) or a tsp (6 g). While those with heart diseases and weight loss can have a dessert made with this quantity of jaggery occasionally as an option to refined sugar, but diabetics need to avoid this sweetener too as it can spike blood sugar levels instantly.

At first I couldn''t believe that a sheera made in a microwave can taste so delicious. The sheera is ready in just 5 minutes! It is impossible to make a sheera in 5 minutes on gas. When the sheera is in the making, it leaves such a strong and delicious aroma. The colour and the taste is also just perfect. In short, its a superb recipe in all means. Must try it..

The recipe was absolutely fantastic.!!Whenever I tried making on gas ,I couldn''t make it properly..But when I tried it in microwave ,it was perfect!!I have tried it several times and it is perfect every time
