What is cheese sauce?



Cheese sauce refers to the creamy white sauce prepared primarily from mixing grated cheese with butter and flour. The cheese sauce is readily available in the market but it obviously do not compare with the fresh cheese sauce that can be easily prepared at home. Simply Melt butter and Stir in flour and seasonings. Gradually add milk, stirring until well mixed. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and smooth. Cook for 5 minutes longer and then add cheese, which can be ricotta, parmesan or cheddar as per your choice. Stir until smooth and well blended. Serve this cheese sauce with pasta or vegetables or use in other dishes. The cheese sauce can be prepared with different herbs like mustard, garlic, pepper, rosemary as per individual taste and recipe requirement.

How to select cheese sauce



Cheese sauce can be bought in jars from the supermarket, however making your own sauce from scratch usually tastes better and in this case is no hassle at all. Always check the expiry date and look out for any discoloration or gas formation ( bubbles) in the bottle, especially near the tip.

How to store cheese sauce



Keep the bottles in a dark cool cupboard for 3 months before using if you can. After opening the seal, keep sauce in the fridge and add a teaspoon to your next dish for its delectable taste.
