vegetable upma is one of the most common South Indian breakfast recipes, which is now popular all over India. vegetable rava upma is a quick preparation using common ingredients like sooji, mixed vegetables, onions, urad dal and Indian tempering.

For vegetable upma
  1. To make vegetable upma, heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan, add the mustard seeds, urad dal, asafoetida, onions and curry leaves and sauté on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
  2. Add the semolina and sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Add the 3½ cups of hot water, mixed vegetables, ginger-green chilli paste and salt, mix well and cook on medium flame for 2 minute, while stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the coriander and lemon juice, mix well and cook on medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve the vegetable upma immediately.

    1. To make vegetable upma | vegetable rava upma | South-Indian style vegetable upma  heat oil in a deep non-stick pan. You can even use ghee if you wish to. 
    2. Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds. 
    3. Add urad dal. It will add a nice nuty aroma and taste to our vegetable upma

    5. Add curry leaves. 
    6. Saute on medium flame for 1 minute.

    8. Saute for 1-2 minutes. 
    9. Add semolina. 
    10. Saute on a medium flame for 2-3 minutes or until you see the rava turning pinkish in colour. 
    11. Add mixed vegetables. 
    12. Add ginger-green chilli paste..
    13. Add salt and mix well..
    14. Add 3 1/2 cups of hot water. 
    15. Cook on medium flame for 2-3 minutes while stirring occasionally. 
    16. Add coriander for freshness. 
    17. Add lemon juice.

I couldn''t stop eating it! A really wonderful dish even though I had to modify the recipe since I didn''t have all the required ingredients. No cilantro, so I substituted with Goya brand ''Recaito'' (Culantro cooking base). A five star plus!

Vegetable upma.. A perfetly cooked semolina which is not too sticky.. nor too dry.. with crunchy vegetables, is just perfect for a morning breakfast.. this is a must try recipe..
