Ingredients
For Matar ka Nimona
3/4 cup sliced potato
1 1/4 cups fresh green peas
4 tbsp oil
1 black cardamom (badi elaichi)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/2 cup roughly chopped tomato
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste
Blend Into Green Masala Paste Using 1/4 Cup Water
1/2 cup roughly chopped coriander (dhania)
1 inch small ginger (adrak)
Method
For matar ka nimona
To make matar ka nimona recipe, purée 1 cup green peas in a blender using 2 tbsp of water and keep aside.
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a deep pan, fry the potato sliced till light golden brown, remove and keep aside.
In the same oil add the green peas puree and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until well combined.
Heat the remaining 2 tbsp oil in the same pan and add bayleaf, cardamom and cumin seeds and sauté for 30 seconds.
Add the tomatoes and mash and cook on medium flame for 2 minutes.
Add the prepared green masala paste and turmeric powder, sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
Add the remaining 1/4 cup green peas, fried potatoes, cooked green peas puree, salt to taste and 1 1/2 cups of water.
Mix well and cover and cook on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
Serve matar ka nimona hot with steamed rice.

In a mixer jar, add ½ cup roughly chopped coriander (dhania).

Add 5 garlic (lehsun) cloves.

Add 3 green chillies.

This curry when I was making it, was not sure of the taste but once it was ready it was really good in taste. Green peas and potatoes are always at home so I make this often and eat it with roti.
