What is khus drink made off?

 

    1. What is khus drink made off? What are the ingredients of khus drink? Indian khus cooler is made from 5 simple ingredients like 1/2 cup khus syrup, 4 tbsp soaked falooda seeds (subza), 1/4 tsp lemon juice, 2 1/2 cups chilled lemonade and 8 ice-cubes.
What is falooda seeds?

 

    1. This is what falooda seeds (Sabza seeds, Subja, Basil seeds) looks like.  The falooda seeds are basically basil seeds which are added to falooda drink or ice creams.
    2. Clean the flaooda seeds and remove dirt if any. Put the falooda seeds in a deep glass bowl. A bigger bowl is better as the seeds will swell up.
    3. Soak the falooda seeds in enough water for 30 to 45 minutes. Take 2 tablespoons falooda seeds to get 4 tablespoons soaked falooda seeds.
    4. Make sure you stir the falooda seeds, else the seeds witll rise to the top. The falooda seeds are basically basil seeds which are added to falooda drink or ice creams. The Falooda Seeds are optional since they don't really have a flavor, but they do add to the authentic look.
    5. Cover and soak for 30 to 45 minutes.
    6. This is how the soaked falooda seeds look. This is what falooda seeds (Sabza seeds, Subja, Basil seeds) looks like after soaking.  If there is excess water, drain it using a strainer. 
    7. Is falooda seeds expensive and difficult to buy? Sabja is cheap and easily available at any Indian kirana and costs Rs 50 for 100 grams.
What is khus syrup?

 

    1. This is what khus syrup looks like. Khus syrup when added to chilled water makes for a refreshing drink. Milkshakes and ice creams taste better with a generously serving of khus syrup.
Making khus drink

 

    1. In a deep glass bowl put 1/2 cup khus syrup.
    2. Add 4 tbsp soaked falooda seeds (subza). See above on details of falooda seeds. Take 2 tablespoons falooda seeds to get 4 tablespoons soaked falooda seeds.
    3. Add 1/4 tsp lemon juice
    4. Add 2 1/2 cups chilled lemonade.
    5. Mix well.
    6. Pour equal quantities of the khus drink  | Indian khus cooler | homemade khus lemon drink | summer party mocktail | into 4 individual glasses and top with 2 ice-cubes in each glass.

A perfect summer cooler drink.. for my family.. And the sabza added to this gives a nice cooling effect.. I served this to my guests.. and they has just loved it..
