Ingredients


For pastry lining:
1/6 cup butter
1 tbsp icing sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup plain flour (maida)
a few drops vanilla essence

For Cake mixture:
1/5 cup butter
1/5 cup icing sugar
1 egg
1/5 cup plain flour (maida)
2 tbsp milk
1/2 tbsp baking powder

For filling:
4 apples
1/2 tbsp cinnamon (dalchini) powder
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
100 gms raisins (kismis)
1 tsp sugar

For crumble:
1/5 cup butter
1/5 cup icing sugar
1/5 cup plain flour (maida)
Method



For pastry lining:

    For pastry lining:
  1. Beat butter and sugar till creamy.
  2. Whisk in eggs,fold in flour and vanilla.
  3. Chill for 1/2 an hour.
  4. Then roll into 10" circle and line a cake mould with a pastry.
  5. Replace in the refrigerator.

For cake mixture:

    For cake mixture:
  1. Beat butter and sugar till creamy.
  2. Whisk in egg and then milk.
  3. Sift flour with baking powder and add to the above mixture.
  4. Mix well and pour onto the pastry- lined tin.
  5. Spread it evenly.

For filling:

    For filling:
  1. Peel and core apples:
  2. Chop into one inch dices.
  3. Add lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon and raisins and mix all together.
  4. Spread this apple mixture on the cake mixture.

For crumble:

    For crumble:
  1. Rub all the ingredients together till it resembles fresh bread crumbs.
  2. Sprinkle on the apple mixture and bake at 180 deg c till the top is crisp and golden.
  3. Serve warm with cream, ice-cream or custard.
