Rice Kheer ( Microwave Recipe)

Thick and creamy rice dessert flavoured with fragrant cardamom powder.

6 tbsp long grained rice (basmati)
2 cups milk
1/4 cup condensed milk
4 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp cornflour mixed in 1 tbsp
a few saffron (kesar) strands dissolved in 1 tbsp
1/2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder

  1. Wash and drain the rice.
  2. Add 1½ cups of hot water in a microwave safe bowl along with the rice and microwave on high for 8 minutes.
  3. Cover and keep aside for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Mash lightly to break the rice grains.
  5. Add the milk and microwave on high for 3 minutes.
  6. Add the condensed milk and sugar and mix well. Microwave on high for 2 more minutes.
  7. Add the cornflour paste, saffron, cardamom powder and microwave on high for 1 more minute.
  8. Serve warm.
