Ingredients

4 brown bread slices
1 cup cooked corn
1/2 cup chopped onions
2 tsp chopped green chillies
1 tbsp butter
2 pinches sugar
salt and pepper to taste
4 tbsp grated cooking cheese

For The White Sauce
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp plain flour (maida)
1 cup milk
salt andpepper to taste

Method
For the white sauce

  1. Melt the butter.
  2. Add the flour and cook on a slow flame until froth appears, while stirring throughout.
  3. Add the milk gradually and stir continuously until the sauce thickens.
  4. Add salt and pepper and mix well.
  5. Divide the topping into 4 equal portions and keep aside.

How to proceed

  1. Melt the butter and fry the onions for 1 minute. Add the green chillies and fry again for a few seconds.
  2. Add the corn, sugar, salt, pepper and white sauce. Keep aside.
  3. Lightly toast the bread slices in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 8 to 10 minutes or till the bread slices are little crisp.
  4. Put the prepared topping on the toasted bread slices, sprinkle grated cheese and bake again in a pre-heated oven and bake at 180°c (360°f) for 5 to 7 minutes or till the cheese melts.
  5. Serve immediately.
